Saint Paul - Mike Parry of Waseca filed the paperwork at the Secretary of State's Office this morning to run for Congress in the First District.

"I am excited to file to run for Congress today. Our campaign continues to build momentum, and we look forward to retiring Congressman Tim Walz in November. Washington is broken and politicians like Congressman Walz are part of the problem. For too long, Congressman Walz has said one thing in southern Minnesota and voted with out-of-touch liberal politicians in Washington."

"Republicans in southern Minnesota are united around a common goal of retiring Congressman Tim Walz. Over the last week, our campaign has received an outpouring of support from southern Minnesotans -- farmers, small business owners, students, and others from across the First District.

While we're disappointed that Allen Quist broke his word, we look forward to taking the conversation to the broader public. Allen Quist has repeatedly been tried, tested and rejected in his numerous attempts to attain higher office. We are confident that Minnesotans will choose the only conservative candidate who has a proven ability to win -- with not only conservative Republicans but also independent voters and Reagan Democrats.

Under Walz's Watch, National Debt Has Increased by Over $6 Trillion

WASECA - Five years ago today, Congressman Tim Walz voted for the FY 2008 Budget Resolution and stated: "Today's resolution puts us on track to balance our nation's budget by 2012....I firmly believe that a nation's budget is a moral document that demonstrates our priorities."

Since Congressman Tim Walz was elected to Congress, the national debt has increased by over $6 trillion. Today, the national debt is over $15 trillion - nearly $50,000 for every citizen.

"Washington is broken because of politicians like Congressman Tim Walz," said Mike Parry, candidate for Congress. "In his early days in Congress, Walz talked like a fiscal conservative - unfortunately, his voting record is in lock-step with big spending Washington liberals. Walz's votes for the failed stimulus plan and Obamacare, along with his votes against a balanced budget amendment, have gotten us into this mess. When elected to Congress, I will work to cut spending, pay down the national debt, and repeal Obamacare to restore fiscal sanity to Washington."

Does Washington Walz Still Back ObamaCare?

WASECA - Two years ago today, President Obama signed his government takeover of health care into law. At the time, Congressman Tim Walz stated that he "voted for this legislation because it is the fiscally responsible thing to do. Since first coming to Congress, I have actively worked to find ways to reduce the skyrocketing, long-term federal debt."

Last week, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) issued a new projection that showed the cost of Obamacare over ten years will be $1.76 trillion - nearly double the $940 billion forecast when the bill was signed into law.

"Congressman Walz's vote for Obamacare is just as bad today as it was two years ago," said Mike Parry, candidate for Congress. "Only Washington politicians like Congressman Walz think Obamacare was 'fiscally responsible.' Congressman Walz talks a good game about reducing the debt but the numbers don't lie - since Congressman Walz went to Washington, the national debt has increased by over $6 trillion. It's time to replace Washington Walz with someone who will cut wasteful spending, protect medicare, repeal Obamacare, and pay down the national debt."

Waseca - President Obama today submitted his 2013 budget to Congress, and it contains more of the same: more spending, more debt and more taxes. With Congressman Walz's history of supporting reckless budgets like this, congressional candidate Mike Parry today called on Walz to take a stand on this budget that will throw our country further into debt.

"With a price tag of nearly $4 trillion, including another $1.3 trillion in debt and over $1.5 trillion in new taxes, President Obama's latest budget proposal sounds like it is right up Congressman Walz's alley," said Mike Parry, candidate for Congress. Parry Admonishes Washington Walz For Opposing Line Item Veto

Waseca - With Congressman Tim Walz voting against a bipartisan bill to restore the Line Item Veto, congressional candidate Mike Parry released the following statement:

"This is just the latest episode in Congressman Walz's disturbing pattern of supporting more reckless spending in Washington," said Mike Parry, candidate for Congress. "It's bad enough that Washington Walz rejected a Balanced Budget Amendment, but his opposition to the Line Item Veto proves that he is part of the problem in our nation's capitol. I look forward to the coming campaign and drawing a clear distinction between Washington Walz's love for more debt and larger deficit with my vision for balanced budgets and a government that lives within its means."

The bill was a bipartisan effort put forward by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) and the Committee's top Democrat, Chris Van Hollen of Maryland.
